Catspiration
I volunteer at a cat shelter and honestly believe that it might save my faith in humanity. This four-wall structure is full of more love than most cities. Their policies are strict and logical:  no-kill; every new cat is spayed/neutered; every new cat in placed in a 2 week quarantined area for the safety of the others; each potential adopter is carefully observed, to see how they respond to the...

Reverse Hoarding
I have a problem that is the opposite of hoarding:  out of nowhere I will compulsively get rid of things in my house. Sometimes this is okay because I like to donate and recycle things. But I also lose things I really like and in the moment I’m not thinking that way. I know it’s just clothes but I gave away two dresses and a skirt that I loved so much. I shop at thrift stores so I...

Silence
Have any of you ever taken a vow of silence? Did you try but fail? What did you learn from it? I’m curious about how it makes different people feel. Reblog if you like…maybe I can retrieve a couple of answers. :)

TV
There are some funny cartoons out there. But I just have to say to the universe how much I love “King of the Hill.” It’s so cute and witty and hilarious. But what sets it apart is this:  after lots of laughter the show—-at certain special, rare moments—-will drive me nearly to tears. Especially the episode where Hank’s father turns away from a fatal decision....

– So…in the airport today I was thinking about the shift from stewardess to flight attendant. And how in the beginning and for so long afterwards we had gender specific careers (and many still hold true to these patterns). Men lead and women obeyed, with doctor-nurse, pilot-stewardess,...

12 Reasons to NOT Eat Dairy →
veganash: 12.  Harvard says so.  I’m being cheeky here, but Harvard’s new “Healthy Eating Plate” food guide has pushed dairy off the plate, based on Harvard’s assessment that high intake can increase the risk of prostate cancer and possibly ovarian cancer, and also suggesting that foods like collards, bok choy, and baked beans are safer choices than dairy for obtaining calcium. 11.  Cancer...
